Academics

The reference material in the form of text books have been edited by the State Council of Educational Research and Training with major inputs from the National Council of Educational Research and Training.

Besides Konkani, the institution offers Marathi, French and Portuguese as options for the third language. The medium of instruction is English.

The institution has a well stocked library. Plenty of additional reference material is available here. St. Britto has a well equipped laboratory and a full time Laboratory Assistant. There exists a regular schedule for student practicals from the 5th to the 10th Std.

The institution follows the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm. This paradigm springs from Ignatian Spirituality. The paradigm consists of a 4 stage student-teacher engagement strategy, which consists of the context, reflection, action and evaluation.  The teaching faculty has been trained and initiated into this paradigm.

This paradigm readily allows value based reflection and discussions on concepts learnt in class. It also promotes higher levels of learning. It is a paradigm that celebrates the dynamic nature of the teaching-learning process. Spiritual, moral and social education thus becomes a part of academic pursuit.

The institution has supplemented the prescribed text books with additional work books. This has been done mainly for English Language Learning. Fluency in the English language translates into better understanding of all other subject matter.
